It is difficult to hold an event in Downtown Racine when there is no other draw, but the combination of gifted photographers and the enthusiasm of Carthage Intern Stacey Rosenwinkel in excess of 250 people attended the event.

Those who attended the photo exhibition on Saturday, June 27, entitled “My View of Things” had the opportunity to meet the five participating Photo Artists, William Bruce, Mila Samokhina, Craig Brandt, Joe Barr and Judith Pannozo.

The Judges Award was given to Judith Pannozo of Racine, along with the Peer Award.  The Peoples Choice was given to William Bruce also of Racine.  Winners received ribbons and cash awards for their winning entries.  We congratulate both of them along with the other three photo artists who are all ‘Winners” in their own right.  All the photography will be displayed in the gallery for another week and Judith Pannozo’s work will be on display for the next month for winning the Judge’s Choice Award.

Those who attended also enjoyed the jazz sounds of “The Dogs Breakfast” featuring two local musicians Brad Karas on bass and Paul Westfahl on vibraphone, both UW-Parkside students.

Stacey Rosenwinkel, Carthage College Intern for Northern Lights Gallery, conducted and judged the show under the guidance of the Gallery owners.  Stacey will be involved in conducting two additional Artist Receptions, one July 18 and one in mid August both at Northern Lights Gallery.

Northern Lights welcomes Macyn Taylor July 3

Northern Lights will once again feature the ‘Sidewalk Superstar’, guitar player and vocalist Macyn Taylor.  Macyn continues to draw rave reviews and Northern Lights keeps hearing ‘bring Macyn back’.  So, by popular demand, Macyn will be performing on First Friday, July 3, at Northern Lights 423 Main Street.

Artist Reception for Joan Stanich July 18

Join Northern Lights Gallery for an Artist Reception on Saturday, July 18 from 6-9pm.  Kenosha Artist, Joan Stanich, found an interest in painting in the early 90’s beginning with Watercolor, acrylic, and most recently oils.  Joan enjoys the challenges of realism and often painting with an impressionistic flair.  She loves the  use of vibrant colors and often color mixing.

While meeting Joan and viewing her works of art, enjoy the classical music by guitarist Andrew Lardner, a UW-Milwaukee student.
